San Francisco, CA (San Francisco Train Accident Lawyer News) — A group of Caltrain passengers were thrown to the ground, when the train hit a bumper at the San Francisco station. Four people were injured in the train accident that occurred at around 8 a.m. on March 2, 2011, reported the San Francisco Examiner.
According to Caltrain, the accident occurred when Caltrain No. 215 slammed into a bumper at the end of the station platform for unknown reasons.
“The train was coming into the station and was going less than 5 miles per hour when it hit the bumper at the end of the platform,” stated San Francisco fire Lt. Mindy Talmadge
The impact of the collision tossed passengers to the ground who were standing and waiting to exit the train as it pulled into the station. Four women were injured in the collision. Responding emergency crews transported two female victims to hospitals, while the two other victims declined transportation to a hospital for treatment of injuries.
One victim reportedly knocked out a tooth in the accident, while others mainly complained of neck pain. Officials reported that none of the injuries were considered to be life-threatening.
A passenger on the train, Steve Herskovitz, 53, said several passengers on the train shouted and complained about hurt knees or bumped heads, and appeared to be “slightly unnerved or scared, but no one appeared to be seriously injured.”
The train was taken out of commission and the station was not damaged. Investigations into the train accident are underway.
