Georgia aviation accident lawyer alert- The FAA is expected to probe a fatal plane crash involving a military jet that resulted in a blaze and left three people dead, one missing.
Morganton, GA—A military jet became involved in a deadly aviation accident near Morganton, Georgia in Fannin County on Monday, April 12, 2010. The fatal plane crash occurred in a wooded area and was reported by a nearby resident, according to information provided by the Pensacola News Journal.
Reports stated a T-39N Sabreliner low-wing, twin-jet aircraft took off from Pensacola Naval Air Station (NAS) in Warrington, Florida and was on a standard cross-country training mission when it crashed at an off-road site in the north Georgia mountains, located in close proximity to the Tennessee boarder. An unidentified local resident called 911 at approximately 3:26 p.m., with regard to the military plane wreck he/she had witnessed. According to Fannin County Sheriff’s Office Maj. Keith Bosen, “The aircraft flew over that resident’s home very low… The resident was able to briefly get a look at the aircraft as it was going down. Seconds later, the resident saw the smoke from the crash.”
Sheriff’s deputies and emergency medical services (EMS) personnel responded to the scene, though it was apparently a tough site to reach because it was located off road in the woods. When authorities reached the scene, they found the aircraft, which is assigned to Training Air Wing Six at NAS, engulfed in flames. The plane crash-induced blaze spread throughout approximately 10 to 15 acres of surrounding woods and took until about 9 p.m. to fully extinguish. Three of the jet’s occupants suffered severe injuries, which seemingly proved fatal at the scene. A fourth crew member was reported missing.
The identities of those fatally injured in the unfortunate military aviation accident were withheld pending family notification. Officials from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are expected to conduct a full investigation into the plane wreck.
