California SUV accident attorneys alert- A Honda CRV crashed through a Carl’s Jr. fast food restaurant, killing a customer.
San Diego, CA—A man was hit and killed while he was eating breakfast inside of a Carl’s Jr., when an SUV plowed through the fast food restaurant on Sunday morning, January 3, 2010. The 66-year-old man was hit around 8:45 a.m., at the Carl’s Jr. location in the Madison Plaza on North Second Street and East Madison Avenue, as reported by SignOn San Diego.
According to police officials, the 66-year-old victim was enjoying his breakfast in the front corner booth with his back against the windows, reading a newspaper while eating his sandwich, when a Honda CRV careened through the restaurant at what appeared to be 45 to 50 mph for unknown reasons. The fast food patron was pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical professionals. The impact of the crash threw the man across the building to the other side. The crash destroyed the entire corner of the fast food building, shattered the windows and left a trail of debris. The driver of the SUV, a 74-year-old El Cajon resident, sustained injuries and was taken by emergency medical services (EMS) teams to a hospital for treatment of what has been described as “moderate” injuries.
There is reportedly no immediate indication that drugs and/or alcohol were involved in the collision, or if the driver of the SUV suffered from a medical emergency prior to the crash. The deceased victim was reportedly a regular customer who came every morning and sat in the same booth everyday, according to restaurant employees. The identity of the deceased victim and the driver of the vehicle are currently being withheld. Police officials are investigating the fatal wreck.
