Arizona personal injury lawyer alerts- fire officials are looking into the cause of a blaze that left one man in critical condition, another woman injured.
Tempe, AZ (News)—An early morning condo blaze left two people injured and 23 others displaced on Tuesday, February 16, 2010. The fire reportedly broke out at approximately 12:30 a.m., at an condo complex, located in close proximity to Hardy and University drives, according to information provided by AZFamily.com.
The Automatic Aid System dispatched firefighters from five stations to the scene of the inferno where it was reported two residents were trapped in a second-story unit of the complex. The couple in that unit of the complex apparently had to break a window as a means of escape. In order to get those who lived in the building out safely, neighboring residents who noticed the blaze allegedly started breaking windows to get their attention. Fire officials investigating the scene stated the fire seemingly started in the patio area of a condo on the first floor. Three people who lived in that unit were reportedly awoken by neighbors alerting them of the flames and managed to make it out unharmed.
The couple in the upstairs unit of the complex, whose identities were undisclosed by authorities, were the only ones injured in the blaze. The woman allegedly sustained a head laceration while the man suffered second-degree burns in the fire. The unidentified man was seemingly listed in critical condition after the incident. Only two units of the building sustained damage though eight others were evacuated. Power in the entire building was also shut off as a safety measure taken to prevent explosions or other fires associated with electrical wiring. The cause of the residential blaze remains under investigation.
