Iowa train accident lawyers alert- A plow truck and train collision injured two people.
Iowa City, IA—A plow truck and train collision hospitalized two people on Thursday, February 11, 2010. At about 12:10 p.m., the Iowa State Patrol rushed to Chambers Avenue near Lower Oxford Road, just east of Oxford, where the crash took place, as reported by the Press-Citizen.com.
The plow, which is a Johnson County Secondary Roads dump truck, was carrying a load of sand and salt when it crossed the railroad tracks on Chambers Avenue. A westbound Iowa Interstate Railroad train then struck the plow, which overturned the plow truck on the north side of the track. The driver of the truck, Dustin Tippie, 29, of North Liberty, and the passenger Thomas Villhauer, 48, of Oxford were injured in the crash. The duo was rushed by Johnson County Ambulance to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for treatment of their undisclosed injuries. Tippie has been treated and released since the wreck; Villhauer’s condition was not reported. The Iowa State patrol is currently trying to determine why the truck was on the tracks in the first place. A full investigation is ongoing. It is unknown if anyone would be cited for the wreck, or if the crossing arms malfunctioned.
