2 High School Students, Motorist Injured in Lenoir County School Bus Crash

Deep Run, NC — Two high school students and a mother were injured when a vehicle pulled out in front of a school bus on Highway 11 Thursday morning, October 27, 2011. The school bus crash occurred at 7:30 a.m. on Highway 11 at Tullis Mill Road, reported WNCT.

The Highway Patrol reported that Terri McIntyre of Lenoir County pulled out across the highway and stopped at the cross over in the middle of the road. When McIntyre pulled out from the cross over, she moved in front of the school bus’ path, causing the bus to t-bone her car on the passenger side.

Two students on School Bus 194, which was heading to South Lenoir High School with 31 students on board, complained of pain.

Responding emergency crews rushed one student who complained of a sore nose and another who had a sore leg to Lenoir Memorial Hospital. McIntyre was also transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries she sustained in the crash.

McIntyre had her 6-month-old daughter in the car at the time, but she remained uninjured.

McIntyre is now facing a violation of unsafe movement.

Investigations are underway.
