CPSC: LittleLife Child Carriers Recalled for Fall Hazards in U.S., Canada

Washington, D.C. — The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), along with Health Canada and Lifemarque, has announced a voluntary recall of LittleLife Discoverer Child Carriers for fall hazards the defective product poses to young children. The CPSC announced the nationwide recall, which also includes Canada, on October 20, 2011.

The product recall was issued after discovering that the carriers were sold without bolts to secure the carrier’s main frame to the metal stand. This causes a fall hazard, because the missing bolts can allow the carrier to disconnect from the stand and fall backwards.

The CPSC reported, “This recall involves LittleLife Discoverer child carriers. ‘LittleLife’ is printed on the back of the carriers. Number LS55060 is printed on a tab sewn underneath the care label. The carriers are green and gray with a black metal frame at the back with a folding leg bracket to enable the carriers to stand.”

Consumers are advised to inspect the carrier to make sure there are two bolts on each side of the main frame that attach to the metal stand. If the bolts are missing, consumers should contact LittleLife for a free replacement product.

The recalled carriers were sold for about $200 at outdoor stores nationwide, including Champaign Surplus in Champaign, Ill., Skinny Skis in Jackson, Wy., and Base Camp stores in Montana. The carriers were also sold online at www.amazon.com, www.skinnyskis.com, www.thebasecamp.com, and www.MadAthlete.com.

For more information concerning the product recall, consumers can contact LittleLife toll-free at (877) 922-5462 between 12 p.m. and 7 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, email the firm at customer.services@littlelife.co.uk or visit www.littlelife.com.
