Virginia personal injury attorney alerts- Driver of tractor-trailer cited by VSP after crash injured Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s wife and daughter.

Falls Church, VA– A violent four-vehicle chain-reaction crash left Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s wife and daughter with serious, though apparently non-life threatening injuries on Thursday, March 11, 2010. The motor vehicle collision (MVC), which involved a minivan, semi-truck, sport utility vehicle and sedan, occurred on Interstate 95 in bumper-to-bumper traffic, according to information provided by MSNBC.

According to Virginia State Police (VSP) officials, 69-year-old Landra Reid and her daughter, 49-year-old Lana Barringer, were traveling north on I-95 in a Honda Odyssey minivan when their vehicle was rear-ended by a northbound big rig. The impact of the initial crash sent their Odyssey careening into the back of a Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV, subsequently causing it to rear-end a Chevrolet Cobalt.

Emergency medical services (EMS) crews seemingly responded to the accident scene to transport Mrs. Reid and her daughter to Inova Fairfax hospital to be treated for their crash-related injuries. Mrs. Reid, who was transported to the medical center in serious condition, reportedly suffered a broken neck, back and nose in the incident, though she was not expected to need surgery. Barringer allegedly sustained facial lacerations as well as a neck injury in the motor vehicle accident but was treated by doctors and nurses, and was expected to be released from Fairfax hospital Thursday evening. It was unknown if any of the other motorists involved in the pile-up suffered injury. VSP authorities reportedly cited the motorist driving the tractor-trailer, identified as 59-year-old Alan W. Snader, with reckless driving.
