Woman dies after receiving black market silicon injections

New York – A woman died after receiving botched silicon injections for a butt lift from an unlicensed practiciner in Queens. According to a WebProNews report, the woman, 34-year-old Kelly Mayhew succumbed to complications that were incurred during the procedure a police report indicates.

Mayhew, who worked as a freelancer at BET Networks, was pronounced dead upon arrival to St. John’s Hospital after being taken there unresponsive, according to authorities.

The mother of Mayhew said that her daughter had received at least four other cosmetic surgical procedures prior.

BET released a statement regarding Mayhew’s death saying, “We are saddened by the death of our colleague and friend, Kelly Mayhew. Our hearts go out to her family and we extend our deepest sympathies for their loss.”

As noted in the report, Mayhew is one of many people whose deaths have been attributed to black market cosmetic surgery procedures.
