Connecticut – Three teens were arrested five months after a fatal car crash for letting a friend drive while intoxicated. As reported by NBC Connecticut, police assert that the 17-year-old boys knew of the inebriated state of Jane Modlesky, also 17, prior to her getting behind the wheel of an SUV and hitting a tree in July. Modlesky was killed in the accident.
Modlesky was driving a 2008 Honda Pilot, which belonged to the parents of one of her friends. Her blood alcohol level was stated to have been .27.
Agent James Kennedy of the Glastonbury Police Department is quoted as stating of the teen boys, who each face charges, “They very well knew that she was intoxicated and should not have been driving.”
Austin Mccallum, a senior at Glastonbury High School, is quoted as stating that following the accident a number of students are “rethinking teenagers being stupid – let’s go out drinking and whatnot – they’re really saying, you know, this could happen to anyone now.”
