Wall Collapse at NY Construction Site Kills 1, Injures 2

Maybrook, N.Y.—One person was killed and two others were injured when a retaining wall collapsed at a Maybrook construction site. The fatal construction accident occurred on Monday, December 2, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. at 918 Homestead Avenue, reports New York Daily News.

According to reports, the retaining wall fell as concrete was being poured at the construction site, hitting three workers.

One worker was flown to Westchester Medical Center by responding emergency crews for treatment of “multiple injuries,” while a second worker was transported via ambulance to Orange Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Emergency rescue crews worked for hours following the accident to lift the collapsed wall off of the body of a third worker, who was killed in the accident.

Investigations into the construction accident are underway. The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are expected to investigate.
