Ohio – An Ohio superintendent, principal, and two others have been charged in connection with an inquiry into rape allegations against two high school football players. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the four were charged with lying or failing to report possible child abuse following the investigation of the rape of a 16-year-old female by two members of the Steubenville High School football team.

The charges come after many alleged that prosecutors should have charged more players in connection with the purported assault. A 12-minute video made shortly after the attack in which a student made jokes about the victim was reportedly posted online drawing headlines.

Derek Smith, 47, who has a son that is a fifth grader at the school which overlooks the football team’s home stadium, is quoted as stating of the recent charges, “Of course, it’s always disturbing when you find out that the people that are in charge of your kids at school have been charged with this kind of thing.”
