Los Angeles – Protestors called for the firing of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” show host Jimmy Kimmel following the airing of a remark made by a young boy during an unscripted segment on an episode of the late-night talk show. As reported by Yahoo TV, hundreds of demonstrators gathered at ABC Studios in three cities over the weekend in protest of the segment during which a young boy suggested we “kill everyone in China” after being asked by Kimmel how the $1.3 trillion debt to the country should be paid by the United States.

ABC is quoted as issuing an apology stating, “We offer our sincere apology. We would never purposefully broadcast anything to upset the Chinese community, Asian community, anyone of Chinese descent, or any community at large. Our objective is to entertain.”

Kimmel is further quoted in the report as adding, “I just want to say I am sorry. I apologize. It was certainly not my intent to upset anyone.”

The apology has received backlash from Chinese-American groups and protestors. “Kids’ Table” is no longer being aired on the show.
