New Jersey – U.S. authorities have arrested a man for selling guns online in exchange for Bitcoin. As reported by Reuters, the man, Matthew Crisafi, 38, was charged with conspiracy to commit money laundering, selling firearms without a license, and smuggling goods from the United States after running the operation on the website Black Market Reloaded.

The website was described by prosecutors in a recently filed criminal complaint as having a similar appearance as online marketplaces like EBay, but it is reportedly only accessible through the Tor encrypted network. Transactions are made between vendors and customers using Bitcoins, a digital currency.

Andrew McLees, the Homeland Security Investigations agent who directed the Crisafi case, is quoted by Reuters as stating, “People who think they can hide behind a veil of an ‘underground’ website to buy and sell weapons illegally are mistaken… HSI will use all of our collective resources to track you down and bring you to justice.”
