Washington – The Federal Aviation Administration has made changes to its rules regarding electronic devices on airplanes. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), FAA Administrator Michael Huerta announced the new rules on Thursday, stating the changes would not be immediate.

In accordance with the new rules, airline passengers will be able to use some gadgets that allow them to conduct activities such as listening to music or playing games from gate to gate, but talking on cell phones throughout the flight still won’t be allowed. The modifications are a reported change in the evolution of the types of devices used by passengers in past years.

Roger Dow, CEO of the U.S. Travel Association, is quoted by the AP as stating of welcoming the changes, “We’re pleased the FAA recognizes that an enjoyable passenger experience is not incompatible with safety and security.”
