California – The former “Price is Right” host paid $1 million for three former zoo elephants to move to a California sanctuary. As reported by The Christian Science Monitor, the former game show host and animal rights activist was reportedly there to welcome the arrival of the animals, Iringa, Thika and Toka, at the Performing Animal Welfare Society’s ARK 2000 compound.

Barker is quoted in the report as stating of their arrival, “It was more than emotional for me, for all of us… I had tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat. It’s hard to believe they are finally here.”

The African elephants were formerly living at the Toronto Zoo. The Toronto City Council agreed to allow them to be sent to the sanctuary two years ago, as noted in the report.
