New York, N.Y.—The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Health Canada and Target have voluntarily recalled White 2-Bulb Floor Lamps for fire and shock hazards posed to consumers. The CPSC announced the nationwide product recall on September 3, 2013.

The lamps were recalled after discovering that when a standard one-way bulb is fully tightened in the lamp’s socket, it can short and pose a fire and shock hazard to consumers.

“This recall includes white plastic, turned-spindle design floor lamps with white fabric drum lamp shades and two 3-way pull-chain switches. Lamp is illuminated by two 3-way 100-watt or 29-watt CFL bulbs and stands approximately 60 inches tall. The model number PL1071 is located on a sticker on the bottom of the lamp,” the CPSC reported.

Consumers are advised to any Target store for a full refund.

At this time there have been six reports of the lamps short circuiting and causing fires that resulted in minor property damage, as well as two consumers who were shocked.

For more information about the nationwide product recall, consumers can contact Target at (800) 440-0680 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT Monday through Friday or online at www.target.com.
