Arizona – A young Arizona girl died in a car crash after riding in a family car being driven by her 8-year-old brother. As reported by Reuters, both children were reported missing Wednesday night around the same time a report was received by emergency dispatchers of children being seen inside of a moving vehicle.

The 2010 Hyundai Elantra was spotted by a patrol car a short time prior to it crashing into a pole not far from the family’s home. The girl died Thursday morning of the injuries she sustained in the accident. Her brother was left with a minor ankle injury.

Phoenix police Sergeant Steve Martos is quoted by Reuters as stating of the incident, “This is just a horrific event… The mom puts them to bed, tucks them in for the night and then wakes up this morning and finds that her six-year-old is dead. That’s just a tragedy.”
