U.K. – The U.K. Advertising Standards Authority banned an advertisement for a Nivea moisturizing cream alleging its anti-aging claims were misleading. As reported by Yahoo! Shine, the ASA independent watchdog group alleged the Nivea Vital moisturizing cream ad, which features 62-year-old model Cindy Joseph, presented claims alongside a photo that had been heavily retouched.

The packaging on the product suggests that it “reduces all major signs of mature skin [ageing].”

The ASA is quoted in the report as asserting the brand, “misleadingly exaggerated the effect that could be achieved by the product.”

The product is not for sale in U.S. stores. Nivea is owned by Beiersdorf.
