Ontario – The family of an autistic child was sent a hate letter that has garnered widespread attention including a photo of it that received thousands of retweets on Twitter. As reported by UPI, the letter-writer suggested that the 13-year-old boy, Maxwell Begley, be “euthanized” in addition to making other disturbing remarks.

The letter is quoted as reading, “You selfishly put your kid outside everyday and let him be nothing but a nuisance.”

Maxwell’s mother, Karla Begley, is quoted in the report as stating to the Toronto Star, “It made me sick to my stomach to think that somebody hated my son that much and they didn’t even know him… But they just hated him because he was different. That’s the only reason they had to hate him.”

Over a reported 120 people in the Ontario community where the family lives gathered outside of their home and cheered for Maxwell when he stepped out of his home on Sunday.

Authorities are reportedly investigating the matter.
