Massachusetts – The son of Red Sox broadcaster Jerry Remy is facing a murder charge in the death of his girlfriend. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Jared Remy was arrested after allegedly stabbing his girlfriend hours after being released from custody for assaulting her.
Jared Remy was arraigned Friday in the death of 27-year-old Jennifer Martel following the fatal stabbing, which took place on Thursday night at an apartment complex in Waltham.
Martel’s child was reportedly in the apartment when police went to the apartment in response to multiple calls to 911, but was stated to not have been hurt. He was placed in the custody of child welfare officials. It was not stated in the report whether Remy is the child’s father.
