Racecar driver apologizes to fans after DUI charge

West Virginia – Racecar driver Bobby Dale Earnhardt apologized to fans and family in a Facebook post Tuesday after being arrested for drunken driving. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Earnhardt, 25, was pulled over Monday by a Charleston police officer after driving at a high rate of speed and making a wide left turn. He was subsequently charged with misdemeanor first-offense driving under the influence. He could face up to six months in jail and a $500 fine if convicted.

Earnhardt is quoted by the AP as writing on his Facebook page, “I wanted to let you all know I made a terrible mistake last night drinking and driving and I am thankful nothing bad happened from my stupidity and I know It could have…I’m sorry for letting all my fans friends and family down.”
