Lakeport, CA – Residents of a sinking subdivision in a Northern California community have filed a complaint against the county in which they reside. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), homeowners in the Lake County subdivision say the reason their homes began sinking one-by-one into a hilltop is due to a previously undetected leaking county water system.

Michael Green, an attorney for the 41 homeowners in the subdivision, is seeking $5 million in damages for each one.

Green is quoted by the AP as stating, “They’re facing a pretty significant economic disaster…We’re just trying to get these folks reasonable compensation.”

Officials in the county have 45 days to respond to the complaint filed by Green before a lawsuit can be filed.
