Miami – The Justice Department is set to review evidence in the trial of George Zimmerman. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the agency will conduct what is anticipated to be a months-long investigation into whether Trayvon Martin’s civil rights were violated by Zimmerman when the African American teen was shot in February 2012.

Zimmerman, a former neighborhood watch volunteer, was acquitted Saturday of murder in the death of 17-year-old Martin, whom he shot during a fight.

Attorney General Eric Holder is quoted by the AP as stating Tuesday at an NAACP convention in Orlando of the investigation, “While that inquiry is ongoing, I can promise that the Department of Justice will consider all available information before determining what action to take.”
