Fourth of July Fireworks Accident at Western PA High School Injured 3

Apollo, PA — A fireworks accident sent debris into a crowd, which hit at least two children and burned a woman during a Fourth of July firework display at a western Pennsylvania high school football field. The accident occurred at Owens Field in Apollo, about 35 miles northeast of Pittsburgh, reports the Associated Press.

According to officials, the incident occurred about seven minutes into the fireworks show when a shell had apparently exploded in some bleachers, causing one woman to suffer a head cut and burns.

At least two children suffered puncture wounds from projectiles as a result of the explosion.

The identities of those injured have not been released.

Investigations into the accident and how it occurred are underway.

Police have not ruled who was at fault or what caused the explosion at this time.
