Boston – Three people were reportedly killed and more than 140 injured in a bomb explosion during the Boston Marathon on Monday. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), an anonymous White House official stated as the investigation into the incident continues that it was being treated as an act of terrorism.

Additional unexploded bombs were subsequently found but disarmed safely. No person or group claimed responsibility for the attack and no suspects have reportedly yet been placed in custody.

President Barack Obama is quoted by the AP as stating at the White House of the attack, “We still don’t know who did this or why… Make no mistake: We will get to the bottom of this.”

Approximately 23,000 runners participated in the race, which is one of the oldest marathons in the world.
