Man Seriously Injured in Accident at Tonawanda Coke

Tonawanda, NY — An industrial accident at Tonawanda Coke has left a 56-year-old man with injuries. The workplace accident occurred around 8:30 a.m. Thursday, April 4, 2013, reports WGRZ.com.

According to officials, a man is being treated for serious injuries after he fell from the third floor to the second. It is unknown at this time what caused the man to fall.

Responding emergency crews had to use a rope to hoist the victim, who was conscious, down before rushing him to an ECMC for treatment. The nature of his injuries have not been released and his identity is being withheld.

Investigations into the workplace accident are underway. The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is also expected to investigate.
