Pennsylvania – A former Pennsylvania pastor has been sentenced in the death of his second wife. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Arthur “A.B.” Schirmer, 64, received a life sentence almost two months after being convicted of the first-degree murder of Betty Schirmer, who was killed in 2008.

Schirmer purportedly attacked Betty Schirmer with a crowbar, causing her fatal injuries, which he alleged she sustained from a car accident.

Betty Schirmer’s son, Nate Novack, is quoted by the AP as stating following the sentencing Monday, “My mom is finally able to rest in peace… We do have some closure and it’s a great day overall, even though the life conviction isn’t going to bring my mom back.”

Schirmer has also been charged in the 1999 killing of his first wife Jewel Schirmer. He has not yet gone to trial for that case.
