Vienna – The story about Austrian kidnap victim Natascha Kampusch’s eight-and-a-half year ordeal is being portrayed in a film. As reported by Reuters, Kampusch, who was kidnapped at the age of 10 while on her way to school and held captive in a cellar, recently opened up about sexual abuse she suffered during her captivity in a German television interview after previously refusing to discuss the claims.
Kampusch escaped her captor, Wolfgang Priklopil, in 2006. Priklopil committed suicide after her escape.
The film, “3,096 Days” is based on her same titled autobiography, and is set for general release this week.
The movie’s director, German-American Sherry Hormann, is quoted in the report as stating of making the film, “I’m a mother and I wonder at the strength of this child, and it was important for me to tell this story from a different perspective, to tell how this child using her own strength could survive this atrocious martyrdom.”
