Oklahoma City – Retail chain Hobby Lobby is reportedly refusing to offer health coverage that includes morning-after pill access in accordance with a federal mandate. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the retailer and religious book-seller Mardel Inc, have filed a suit to block the requirement that they offer coverage for emergency contraception in health care plans.

The companies purport the mandate violates the religious beliefs of their owners.

Kyle Duncan, who is representing Hobby Lobby on behalf of the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, is quoted in the report as saying in a statement posted online, “The company will continue to provide health insurance to all qualified employees… To remain true to their faith, it is not their intention, as a company, to pay for abortion-inducing drugs.”
