U.S. – A new survey has found that millions of young adults have been added to the health insurance plans of their parents as a result of a new health-care law. As reported by Bloomberg, there was a purported increase of approximately 6.6 million young adults under the age of 26 who were added to their parents’ plans last year.

As noted in the report, the increase is deemed the largest to occur over the course of a year with regards to medical coverage for this particular age group.

Sara Collins, vice president for affordable health insurance at the Commonwealth Fund, is quoted in the report as stating of the findings of a survey conducted by the New York-based nonprofit, “The economy is absolutely a factor in both the large number of adults who are without health insurance and likely the number coming onto their parents’ policies,” and the law “came at a really good time for young adults, in terms of the poor job market.”
