Tucson, Arizona – The family of a teenager who was killed in an accident involving a drunk driver has reached a settlement in a lawsuit filed against the city of Tucson. As reported by the Arizona Daily Star, the settlement is for $2 million, with the city also agreeing to name a city amenity such as a basketball court for the victim.

Jose Rincon Jr., 14, was killed in 2008 after being hit by drunk driver, Glenda Rumsey, while riding his bicycle with a friend. The parents of the teen filed a lawsuit against the driver, the restaurant where she had consumed alcohol prior to the accident, and the city of Tucson for reported problems resulting from the construction of the roadway where the accident occurred.

Rumsey was convicted in 2008 of charges in connection with the accident including manslaughter and driving under the influence.
