Fawn Grove, PA — Police are investigating the cause of injuries sustained by over two dozen students who hit their heads while riding in their school bus Wednesday, December 9, 2011. The incident occurred in the 500 block of Main Street, with 45 students on board the bus, reported ABC27.

State police stated that the bus apparently hit a pothole, which caused it to suddenly sway. But when PennDOT examined the road where the bus had traveled, they found no pothole that would have contributed to the incident.

The school bus, which was transporting students to Fawn Elementary School and fifth and sixth graders from South Eastern Middle School, continued to the Fawn Elementary where 10 students were taken by ambulance to York Hospital

Minibuses with EMT’s on board transported several other injured students to York Hospital as well.

A York Hospital spokesman revealed that a total of 33 students were treated. All of their injuries are believed to be minor, which consisted of bumps to the head.

Investigations into the school bus accident are underway.
