Lake Arrowhead, CA — Investigations are underway into what caused a school bus’ radiator hose to burst and spray students with hot liquid and fumes Monday, October 31, 2011. The accident occurred while the bus was traveling on California Highway 18 near the old Santa’s Village around 8: 45 a.m., reported the Los Angeles Times.

Nine Lake Arrowhead area junior high students were injured as a result of the incident. Authorities reported that all the injuries were considered minor. The worst of the injuries were some burns to a few students’ legs.

Responding emergency crews transported the injured students to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries and respiratory problems.

The students were reportedly headed to Mary Putnam Henck Intermediate School in Lake Arrowhead when the radiator hose ruptured.

Investigators are looking into what cause the mechanical failure at the rear of the 1994 Thomas bus.
