Los Angeles, CA — New Edition singer Johnny Gill has been sued by the CEO of his record label after the singer tweeted defamatory statements. The lawsuit was filed Thursday, August 11, 2011, in the Los Angeles Superior Court, reported TMZ.

The record producer, Ira DeWitt, claims that Gill wrongly blamed her after a song rumored to be on his upcoming album was leaked.

Gill reportedly attacked DeWitt on Twitter calling her “deranged” and “f**king nuts.”

Gill also tweeted: “I have every reason to believe Ira from the record company put this song out might cry with unfinished vocal from me, that is not on my cd.”

DeWitt asserts that she had nothing to do with the leak. She also claims that the statements Gill tweeted about her business are defamatory, by stating that her record company is a sham and she leaked the song because he had a “hard on” for one of the song’s producers.

DeWitt says that claims damaged her reputation.

The defamation lawsuit is seeking unspecified damages, as well as asking the judge to stop Gill from making statements about her on Twitter.
