Miami, FL — Police are looking into the death of a Miramar High School Patriots football player, who died during conditioning training Tuesday, July 26, 2011. The player was attending a football conditioning drill at Miramar High when he told his coaches he wasn’t feeling well, reported CBS Miami.

Offensive lineman Isaiah Laurencin, who stood 6’3” and weighed 286 pounds, was sidelined for most of the training session after complaining that he wasn’t feeling good. As everyone was preparing to leave following practice, Laurencin collapsed.

Laurencin’s family says he was experiencing cramps when he contacted them to pick him up. Not long after, as his family was on their way to get him, he began vomiting and went into cardiac arrest.

Laurencin was rushed to Memorial West for medical treatment, but at 1:40 a.m. Wednesday morning, he was pronounced dead. Joe Dimaggio Children’s Hospital doctors were reportedly at Memorial West to see Laurencin.

The exact cause of death is currently unknown. Investigations into the mysterious death are ongoing.
