Recall: Rocky Mountain Bicycles recalled by CPSC for fall injury risks

Washington D.C.—The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Rocky Mountain Bicycles voluntarily recalled about 325 Rocky Mountain Bicycles for fall hazards. The CPSC announced the product recall on March 10, 2011.

The product recall was issued after discovering that the front fork steering tube can break, which poses a fall injury hazard to users.

Three reports of cuts and scrapes, and one report of a broken wrist were received by the firm.

“The recalled bicycles have Rocky Mountain Bicycle printed on the frame. Only bicycles with certain serial numbers, located on the bottom side of the bicycle, are included in this recall,” reported the CPSC press release.

The following bikes are involved in the recall:

• Model: Solo CX

o Year: 2008-2010

o Colors: Gun metal gray, white

• Model: Solo CXD

o Year: 2008-2009

o Color: Gun metal gray, titanium silver

• Model: Metropolis SEA

o Year: 2010

o Color: Gray

Consumers are advised to contact Procycle with your serial number to determine if it is included in the recall and to arrange for a free replacement of the front fork.
