Denver, CO—Police are investigating a double-fatality head-on collision that also injured a toddler on Monday, January 24, 2011. The fatal automobile accident occurred in northwest Douglas County around 4:12 p.m., on U.S. Highway 85 at Titan Road, as reported by the Denver Post.

The Colorado State Patrol reported that a Jeep was stuck head-on by a southbound Mercedes that was traveling on U.S. Highway 85. The Mercedes apparently swerved off the road, but then corrected itself and swung back into the northbound lane where it crashed into the Jeep.

Responding emergency crews rushed both of the drivers to Swedish Medical Center in Englewood for treatment. The female passenger and a 3-year-old in the Jeep were transported to an area hospital.

The driver of the Jeep and the female passenger did not survive the crash.

The female driver of the Mercedes was seriously injured; the toddler sustained minor injuries.

The identities of those involved are being withheld.

Police are trying to determine if drugs and/or alcohol were involved. No charges have been filed at this time.

A full investigation is underway.
