Las Vegas, NV—One mother is furious with Las Vegas police after they ticketed her 13-year-old daughter as she was being rushed in for an operation. Las Vegas police ticketed the teen for jaywalking after she crossed a street and was hit by an oncoming car, as reported by My Fox Boston.

Kellie Obong, the mother of 13-year-old Takara Davis, stated her daughter was trying to keep up with friends as they crossed the street. Takara was struck by an oncoming car.

“She hit the windshield, flipped three times in the air and from the point of impact to where her body was … Metro [police] told me she was 125 feet [away],” Obong recalled.

Obong is now slamming the Las Vegas police for handing her a jaywalking ticket in the hospital as her daughter was being wheeled into the operating theatre. Takara remains in a medically-induced coma.

Obong asserts, “That was not the time or place to come and hand me a jaywalking ticket for my child. How cold could you really be?”

Officers say Takara was not in the crosswalk at the time of crash. It is unknown if the motorist was injured.
