Hollywood, CA—The Black Eyed Peas are embroiled in another legal battle, which alleges the pop-group stole yet another song. George Clinton of the Parliament-Funkadelic sued the Peas for copyright infringement in a California federal court, as reported by E! Online.

Clinton claims the Peas’ “Shut Up Remix” sounds too familiar to Clinton’s “(Not Just) Knee Deep.” The song in question, “Shut Up,” was the second single from the Peas’ 2003 album Elephunk, which was followed by its remix.

Clinton asserts that the Peas not only used his song in the 2003 remix, but they used it again in 2009 for he “Shut the Phunk Up Remix,” and never compensated Clinton.

The Parliament-Funkadelic frontman wants the royalties he feels he deserves. He is also seeking a declaratory judgment dictating his percentage of ownership in the two Black Eyed Peas songs, including damages and a permanent injunction, which would keep them from performing, promoting or profiting from either remix.

This is not the first time the Peas have been accused of copyright infringement. This past year, two separate lawsuits were field against the Peas. One lawsuit claims that the Peas stole “Boom Boom Pow” from a Chicago-area duo, while the other suit alleges they ripped off “I got a Feeling” from a Texas artist.
