San Diego, CA—An industrial accident at the main shipyard of General Dynamics NASSCO left one worker with injuries on Monday, November 22, 2010. The accident took place around 2:30 p.m., on Harbor Drive at 28th Street, as reported by Sign On San Diego.

Cal/OSHA officials reported that a 40-foot long T-beam, weighing about two tons rolled over and caught the leg of a shipfitter.

The worker, who is reportedly 39-years-old, sustained either a deep cut or a partial foot amputation in the accident. Officials would not release his exact injuries due to ongoing investigations and health-privacy reasons.

The injured worker was rushed to an area hospital where he is being treated.

NASSCO’s own fire-rescue department and the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department responded to the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
