Mahwah, NJ – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Sharp Electronics Corporation, of Mahwah, NJ, announced Tuesday, August 31, 2010 that a recall of Sharp 32-inch LCD-TVs was issued. According to the CPSC press release, consumers should stop using the recalled televisions immediately, unless otherwise instructed.

The Sharp 32-inch LCD-RVs pose an injury risk to the consumer, as the stand’s neck support can break and cause the TV to tip over. No injuries were reported in connection with the risk.

Approximately 9,000 units with the model number LC-32SB28UT are involved in the nationwide recall. The model number, serial number and manufacture dates of March 2010 to April 2010 are printed on a label on the back of the product.

Serial numbers include:

0028 32837 through 0028 35190

0048 57501 through 0048 59020

0048 61401 through 0048 64020

0048 72001 through 0048 78800

Serial and model numbers not listed are not included in the recall.

The units were sold in major retail stores from March 2010 through August 2010. The Chinese manufactured units retailed at approximately $550.

The CPSC and Sharp encourage consumers to immediately contact Sharp to arrange for a free replacement stand neck support. Those in need can contact Sharp at (800) 291-4289, or visit the company’s website at www.sharpusa.com.
