Legal News for Product Liability Attorneys. MiDAS Foods International recalled Instant Beef Soup and Instant Beef Stroganoff dry mixes for possible health risks.

Product liability lawyer alert- The FDA announced a product safety recall of dry beef mixes due to potential salmonella contamination.

Oak Park, MI— MiDAS Foods International, in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) http://www.fda.gov, recalled Instant Beef Soup dry mix and Instant Beef Stroganoff sauce mix due to the potential health hazards they may pose to consumers. While the mixes were not sold directly to the public, the FDA issued a press release on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 to warn any consumers who obtained the product by chance to discard the mixes, which may be contaminated with Salmonella.

The recall was reportedly issued due to the fact that the mixes contain hydrolyzed vegetable protein (HVP), which has prompted a long slew of product safety recalls for possible salmonella contamination. While the product tested negative for the bacteria, MiDAS Foods International issued the recall as a safety precaution.

According to the FDA, Salmonella is “an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.”

The Instant Beef Soup mix was packaged in a brown cardboard case with the dimensions 15″x 7.75″x 5.7″.
