Texas SUV accident attorneys alert- A SUV crashed into a jack-knifed semi truck on Interstate 30.

Dallas, TX—A teenager is dead following a serious collision on Interstate 30 in Arlington, when a stolen SUV collided with a jack-knifed tractor-trailer. The wreck occurred on Monday, April 26, 2010 around 6:00 a.m., on I-30 near the Lamar Boulevard/Cooper Street exit, as reported by the Star-Telegram.

Police officials reported, a semi truck apparently lost control for unknown reasons, causing the big rig to crash into a highway median and jack-knife. The trailer of the semi reportedly fell onto the SUV, which was reported stolen on Monday from an Arlington home. A police officer stated, “The driver of the stolen SUV managed to get out of the vehicle and attempted to leave the scene. That juvenile was arrested and charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and failure to stop and render aid.” The 16-year-old driver of the SUV also sustained injuries that were considered to be minor. Rescue teams reportedly worked for nearly 45 minutes until they were able to free two other teenage passengers of the SUV. One passenger, Renee Escalante, 17, was transported to Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital for treatment. The second teen, Marcos Ruiz, 17, was airlifted by CareFlite helicopter to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. Unfortunately Ruiz’s injuries proved fatal and he was pronounced dead at 3:49 p.m.

The driver of the semi, Edwin Manning, 58, was also injured and is listed in stable condition at Arlington Memorial.

A Police spokeswoman stated, “Officials learned that [Renee Escalante] has an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of the Texas Youth Commission. He has non-life threatening injuries and is now in police custody.”

A full investigation is underway.
