Penfield New York car-bus collision: Two injured after pickup and 2-bus crash

Two people were taken to the hospital after a chain-reaction pickup truck, two-bus crash.

Penfield, NY (www.NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – Two people were hospitalized after a crash involving two school buses and one pickup truck occurred Monday, April 16, 2010, as reported by Democrat and Chronicle.

At approximately 7:30 a.m. Monday morning, two school buses were idling at a red light in the northbound lane of Five Mile Line Road at the Atlantic Avenue intersection. The buses were behind one another. Russel W. Dronzeuski, 54, drove his pickup into the back the BOCES bus, which resulted in it crashing into the bus in front of it.

The BOCES bus was transporting a student in a wheelchair and an attendant to Willink Middle School in Webster. The driver and attendant complained of neck pain, whereupon they were taken to Rochester General Hospital for treatment.

Al Boezi, Penfield Fire Chief, said the second bus was in the process of transporting 11 students to Bay Train Middle School in Penfield. Nobody complained of injuries and all students were taken to school by another bus.

The pickup driver was treated at the scene, according to Boezi.

Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Cpl. John Helfer told reporters Dronzeuski was ticketed for following too closely.
