Milford Delaware automobile accident: SUV speeding at 101 mph before 3-car crash

Milford, DE (www.NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A three-car collision that injured five resulted just after one of the vehicles involve in the crash was clocked by radar speeding at 101 mph, as reported by The News Journal.

At approximately 1 p.m., Sunday, April 18, 2010, Gregory Coverdale, 44, of Milford was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban east on the Milford-Harrrington Highway near Bloomfield Road. A trooper heading in the opposite direction clocked the Suburban at 101 mph, according to police spokesman Sgt. Walter Newton.

Soon after, the SUV allegedly struck the rear end of an eastbound 2000 Dodge pickup truck. The impact of the collision sent the truck to the north side of the road and into a house.

After hitting the truck, the Suburban then spun into the westbound lanes, colliding with a 2008 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Christopher Holleger, 21, Milford .

The driver of the Dodge pickup, Lucas Messick, 20, of Lincoln was flown to Christina Hospital and treated for a fractured hip. A 15-year-old passenger was taken to the Milford hospital and treated for a broken nose.

Suburban driver Coverdale was treated for undisclosed injuries at Milford Memorial Hospital, as was Chevy truck driver. A passenger in Holleger’s pickup was treated for minor injuries as well at Milford.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing. As of April 19, 2010, no charges had been filed.
