Severn, Maryland (www.NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A crash between a pickup truck and an SUV on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 proved fatal for three people, as reported by The Baltimore Sun.

The crash happened at approximately 10:30 p.m. near Donaldson Avenue and Walnut Grove Road, according to police. A preliminary investigation showed that a 1998 Ford F-150 headed westbound on Donaldson Avenue crossed into oncoming traffic and crashed into a 1997 Ford Expedition. The SUV burst into flames.

By the time emergency crews arrived, the Expedition was engulfed in fire.

Jessica Lynn Ray, 26, of Severn was driving the Ford F-150. Preston Alonzo Matthews, 57, of Hanover was driving the Expedition. The passenger in the SUV was later identified as Curtis Lee Matthews, 60, of Severn. The two men were not related.

Matthews and Matthews were pronounced dead at the scene. Ray was pronounced dead at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.

A police spokesman told reporters that speed did not appear to be a factor in the crash, and that “driver error” seemed to be the culprit. Police investigators are awaiting the medical examiner’s report before they make any other determinations.
