FDA Alert: Hawaiian® Kettle Style Potato Chips & Sweet Maui Onion Rings recalled

U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) alerts product liability attorneys- Certain Hawaiian products were recalled over Salmonella contamination.

Seattle, WA—Tim’s Cascade Snacks of Algona, Washington has recalled ‘Hawaiian® Kettle Style Potato Chips – Sweet Maui Onion’ and ‘Hawaiian-Sweet Maui Onion Rings due to a threat of salmonella contamination. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) http://www.fda.gov/ announced the recall on Tuesday, March 2, 2010.

The chips and onion rings were sold though retail stores, distributors, direct delivery and Internet sales nationwide and in Canada. No other “Hawaiian” products are involved in the recall. The snacks were sold as individual bags, and as a part of variety packs. The following snacks are included in the recall:

• ‘Hawaiian Kettle Style Potato Chips – Sweet Maui Onion’: With code dates MAR 09 10 to JUN 07 10.

o 1.5 ounce It’s Time for Tim’s Variety Pack, 36 count- UPC Code: Bag 1159402213, Tray 1159436001

No illness connected to the recalled products has been reported at this time. The recall was initiated after finding that the snacks contain HVP (hydrolyzed vegetable protein), which has been manufactured, distributed and recalled by Basic Food Flavors, Inc., Las Vegas, NV. If you have purchased the recalled products, you are advised to return them to place of purchase to receive a refund. Do not consume the product.
