Houston, TX (News)-A Metro bus ran a red light at St. Joseph Parkway and slammed straight into a Metro light rail train, injuring nine passengers. Amy K. According to preliminary investigation reports, a westbound Metro bus apparently ran a red traffic light at St. Joseph Parkway, when the passenger bus careened into the northbound Metro light rail train, partially derailing it. Emergency responders rushed four people, including the 10-year veteran bus driver to nearby St. Joseph Hospital, while four others were taken Ben Taub General Hospital and one person was taken to Memorial Hermann for treatment. All of the victim’s injuries were reportedly non life threatening. The train operator, who has been employed by Metro for only a year, was treated by responding emergency medical services (EMS) crews at the scene and released. The rush-hour traffic was disrupted while crews put the damaged Metro train back on the tracks. It is unknown why the bus driver drove through the red light.
