Young man ejected from pickup in New York collision

Hastings, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – State police officials reported to the scene of a fatal collision that claimed the life of one young man and sent two others to the hospital around 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2010, as reported by WCAX.

Police arrived at the tragic collision that occurred on Route 11 near Central Square, north of Syracuse, where a 19-year-old man was fatally injured when the pickup truck he was a passenger in crossed the center lane and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle.

Police identified the driver of the pickup truck as 23-year-old Asha Reichel, resident of Cortland. Her passenger, 19-year-old Thomas, Holmquist, was identified as the critically injured passenger. Police reported that the accident appeared to have happened when the pickup truck veered into the northbound lanes for unknown reasons and collided with a Chevy Impala.

The driver of the Chevy was identified as 24-year-old Cory Dinant, resident of Hastings, who was also injured in the motor vehicle accident. The pickup truck reportedly flipped over from the force of the crash, and Thomas was ejected from the vehicle. Police declared the young man dead at the scene.

Emergency medical services (EMS) arrived to transport both drivers of the wrecked vehicles. They were taken for treatment of non-life threatening injuries at University Hospital. The investigation of the fatal and tragic motor vehicle accident continues.
